Your Health

You carry your health with you your entire life.

Think about it:

Every single decision you make now affects your health down the road.

Depending on that decision, it could be the difference between debilitating health issues and a relatively healthy retirement where you can stay active and not run up huge health bills.  We also know that people with underlying health problems are at higher risk of contracting COVID 19.

We are happy to invest money in materialistic things but our health always seems to come last until it is too late!

Are you willing to deal with the health consequences of not taking care of yourself now?

Are you ready to literally pay the price?

Healthy living starts with a solid diet.

Have you ever heard that saying “You are what you eat?” Probably.

Eat a crappy diet and honestly you feel pretty bad throughout the day. You may not even realize it though because that’s all you’ve ever known.

If you are used to eating a pretty bad diet filled with sugary cereals, processed foods and more – yes it’s certainly cheap.  You are saving money in the moment and hey, who doesn’t love some of those foods?

Does this sound familiar?  Making changes now are imperative to benefit in the future.

People are preoccupied with other things such as making money and pursuing other material goals at the expense of their lives. What they don’t realize is that if you neglect your health, even all the money in the world cannot save you if your health collapses.

Needless to say, being in top shape is always better than having six-digits in your bank account. Here are the reasons why investing in good health is one of the best forms of investments you can make:

1.    Good health can reduce healthcare cost

Having poor health can make you unproductive and low-spirited because of such limitations in your movements and actions. In addition to that, undergoing a long-term medication can wipe out all your savings and assets. Nowadays, healthcare costs such as medicine, doctor’s visits, and hospitalization are somewhat expensive that an average person will have second thoughts in availing the services.

Experiencing a devastating financial downfall from hospital bills is even scarier than the illness itself. If you want to reduce your risk factors for various conditions, improve your health and follow some simple lifestyle choices you can make.

2.    Healthy life means more time to spend with your loved ones

When you are taking care of yourself, you will be reaping the health benefits in the long run. Simply, you will have more quality time to spend with your loved ones. While thinking of your family, ensure you have provided them means to be healthy too.

The dreadful side of deteriorating health is that you are going to be a burden to your family when you are sick. How can you be there for your partner, family or even your fur babies if you are sick or gone? The answer is that you can’t. So, if you love your beautiful family, it’s better to take care of your body.

3.    Healthy lifestyle can prevent disease

According to the latest WHO data published in 2018, life expectancy in Malta is:  Male 79.6, female 83.3 and total life expectancy is 81.5 which gives Malta a World Life Expectancy ranking of 20.  Coronary Heart Disease being the No 1 killer.

Most of the diseases nowadays are lifestyle instead of hereditary. Meaning, the food that you eat, drink, and other unhealthy habits can make an impact to your health in the coming years. The causes of diseases may vary, but a healthy diet and active lifestyle play a huge factor. If you invest in your health today, you are fighting and preventing future diseases.

Instead of having that extra half hour lie in, in the morning, start by feeding your body better fuel and adding 15-30 minutes of exercise into your day. Always remember that consistency pays off. When you buy processed foods, you’re literally buying illness. Instead of taking medicine later, better start eating good food now.

4.    Good health can increase productivity at work

Good health is always associated with productivity. Empl

oyers would always want to hire and retain staff or workers who are physically fit than those who are not. The obvious benefit of having a healthy workforce is that healthier employees are absent less often and have minimal sick leave.

However, if you maintain good health and positive spirit, you will no doubt be an asset of the company. In addition, healthy workers are more motivated to stay in work, recover from sickness quicker and are at less risk of long-term illness.

5. Poor health can make your life unhappy and miserable

The effect of poor health is detrimental to anyone’s life. Imagine a person suffering from a stroke for years. They are always grumpy, feel bored, irritated and hopeless while on the sickbed or wheelchair. You can’t even enjoy travelling when you’re sick. The money that you have including mansion, BMW, private pool with jacuzzi are all useless.

Tips on How to Have a Healthy Body

Here are the simple ways how to maintain being in top shape:

Get Moving

The first step is to take up a realistic exercise plan and stick to it. Working out on a regular basis is a great way for you to strengthen your body, whilst improving your mood. It will be far easier for your body to fight off illness, disease, and infection if it is used to being pushed to the limit.

Furthermore, making an effort to get fit and active will help you to trim down any excess weight that could be a danger to your health. Hopefully, you will already have a couple of exercise activities in your life that you can try to step up.

However, if you are a beginner to working out, you should seriously consider contacting us for a free consultation and assessment. Although this will be an expense in the short-term, but in the long-term, it could provide you with the incentive you need to get moving. This is ideal if you are new to training, what better way than having one of our professional Coaches guide you along the way.

Start lifting weights

Lift weights – we can’t stress enough how beneficial strength training is, especially as we start getting older.  Lifting weights helps you fight osteoporosis by gaining bone density, improve posture and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Assess your diet

Another great way for you to improve your lifestyle is by evaluating your diet. Instead of allowing yourself to consume whatever you want, it is vital that you take control of your food and drink.  Add wholesome foods to your diet – Food from the earth is the best! A balanced healthy diet a mix of protein, carbs and fats; keeping heart disease and diabetes at bay.

Why not create a meal plan that you can follow throughout the week? In this digital age, there are also handy apps that you can download onto your devices. They can do anything from reminding you to drink more water to providing a calorie count for each of your meals.

You should also endeavour to spend more of your time in the kitchen. If you are making do with ready meals that are warmed up in the microwave, it is unlikely that you are getting all of the nutrition you need. However, if you are preparing your dishes from scratch, it will be easier for you to stay on top of the ingredients that you are introducing into your body.

Invest in your sleep routine

Finally invest time in your sleep routine. If you are going to fill the energy you need, it is important how to know you are sleeping enough before taking any steps.  Being aware of your current sleep state can help you identify which practices can give you a quality sleep.

It could be an idea to update the interior design scheme of your room, invest in new mattress or weighted blanket, and ban technology from your bedroom.

If you find it hard to sleep in silence, you could always purchase a useful white noise machine. Or, if you are kept up by loud sounds, you could install double glazing in your bedroom and purchase noise cancelling headphones.

Keep in mind

Good health is the best form of investment anyone can have. Look at your current health habits and ask yourself whether you are

living to the fullest before it’s too late. Eat right, maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and make sure you have enough rest and sleep. Healthy lifestyle requires a tremendous amount of discipline, commitment and dedication but worth the investment!
