Everyone wants results fast. We live in a fast-paced world where we want everything as quick as possible and the fitness industry is no different.
Everyone seems to be selling the magic pill, fat burning juices or the best exercise you can do to reduce here, there and everywhere!
People are very quick to complain when their fat loss isn’t as fast as it should be, why their belly fat isn’t going & why they are not looking like the model on their phone!
The fact of the matter is that after many yo yo diets, inconsistency with training and poor health the body takes time to heal. Change doesn’t happen overnight and this is where consistency and sustainability go hand in hand.
If you are the kind of person that flits from one thing to another or go from 0 -100 then you can’t expect results.
What can we do to make more sustainable choices? Here are 3 tips that we find work well in helping our clients achieve great results.
1. Baby steps – if you have been a couch potato for the last 5 years and now you have decided to join the last fitness craze and go training 5 times a week – is this sustainable? Alternative – start with training twice a week and if you can sustain that for a month then add another session
2. Joining the latest fad diet – buying juices, detox teas, cabbage diet, 5:2…… – Alternative – start with cleaning your diet – slowly. Reduce refined sugars, make portions smaller, reduce weekly alcohol. Make better food choices.
3. Ditch all your friends – because you have started all the above you decide to ditch all your friends and start living like a hermit – alternative – you can still have a social life but make healthier choices when eating out. Instead of eating dishes laden with sauces opt for a protein dish with side veg or salad. Instead of having both alcohol and dessert decide between the two.
